Good Hope Farm is a community-supported urban farm supporting the local food system through events and workshops, farm-grown produce, and resources for new farmers. The mission is to marry Cary’s agricultural past with an innovative future by connecting beginning farmers to affordable farmland and our community to local food.
Cary recognized the inherent and unique value of this property as an intact working farm that looks and feels very much like stepping back in time. The property includes a farmhouse, multiple tobacco barns, tool sheds, and a ham house as well as twenty acres of farmland. By preserving and restoring the earth 19th and 20th century buildings, Cary is establishing a facility that will connect the community with our agricultural past well into the future.
In partnership with Cary, PCC licenses plots up to two acres (2.0) to new and expanding farmers, farming equipment and infrastructure is available on site for collaborative use amongst the Farmers. Farmers retain full independence of their farming business.
To achieve the goal of connecting local residents with local healthy food, Cary manages many public events on the Farm throughout the year. The farm features a demonstration garden and offers agricultural and nutritional educational programming. Volunteering & Learning events include native plant sales, Community Supported Agriculture (CSAs), MLK Day of Service and monthly volunteer work days on the farm, various agricultural-farming related workshops. Yearly Farm-to-Fork Dinner and Celebration along with fall Harvest Fests.
