Funded by the Environmental Protection Agency’s 319 Program ($50,000) with matching funds provided by the Division of Water Resources ($50,000) and the Whittinton Park HOA ($55,000).
This project will involve restoring 330 linear feet of a badly damaged urban stream and protecting adjacent infrastructure. This newly restored channel will be connected to a wide floodplain that will provide water quality benefits and protect adjacent homes from erosion. A dense installation of native, riparian and wetland plantings will be completed as part of the work. The design, permitting, and construction bidding of this project is already complete. The project is ready for construction and all funds will be used to facilitate installation and maintenance over the grant period.
